Description

Paul Romano is a fine artist and designer working and living in Philadelphia. Romano’s work spans many mediums and aesthetics, nodding to art history and imbued with abstract narrative. He has worked with many aggressive bands across multiple albums, including Mastodon, dälek, Hate Eternal, The Red Chord, and Withered to name a few.

In Jean Cocteau’s Beauty and the Beast appear disembodied helping hands. I love the idea of conjuring up an extra arm to hold a flashlight or for some divine intervention. In this drawing I was thinking about the term, “healing hands”; an armored arm to block and miracle hands to heal wounds from attacks that have already made it through. All the hands here are mediocre facsimiles of hands painted by Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres. I will often do partial studies from a master to continue tuning my own skills, and appropriate into my own idea.
